The Chevrolet Silverado is the latest vehicle of its kind in full size trucks from the house of legendary automobile manufacturer General Motors. The vehicle was released along with the counterpart GMC Sierra. General Motors had released its first vehicle in pickup truck model in the year 1930.

The vehicle has its assembly plants located at Silao in Mexico, Oshawa, Ontario in Canada, Pontiac, Michigan in United States, Flint, Michigan in United States and Fort Wayne, Indiana in United States. The model Chevrolet Silverado was released as a predecessor to the Chevrolet GMC. The various body styles offered by the vehicle include 4-door crew cab, 3-door extended cab and 2-door regular cab. The layout of the vehicle includes a front engine with a rear wheel drive.

The Chevrolet Silverado SS was launched in the year 2003 for the first time. The Silverado SS is a pickup truck with high performance built by the Chevrolet group, a subsidiary of General Motors. The vehicle is built based on the model car 1500 Silverado with few modifications like drive train and interior and exterior look. The vehicle is provided with the 6 liter V8 High output Vortec, which produces 257 kilo watts of energy at the speed of 5200 rotations per minute. It also produces the torque of 380 lb- ft at the speed of 4000 rotations per minute. This engine is also used for the second generation model Cadillac Escalade.

The engine in the vehicle is advertised as Vortec Max by both GMC and the Chevrolet, whereas the Cadillac names it as the HO 6000. The SS model was released as a vehicle with all wheel drive but later changed it to only rear wheel drive.
